The city of Lincoln is one of Northern California’s best kept secrets. Incorporated in 1890, Lincoln was named after real estate magnate Charles Lincoln Wilson and is situated 25 miles northeast of Sacramento near the Sierra Foothills in South Placer County. In 2006, the city of Lincoln received the prestigious All-America City Award given by the National Civic League. This award recognizes civic excellence, honoring communities in which citizens, government, business and nonprofit organizations demonstrate successful resolution of critical community issues. Sun City Lincoln Hills SCHOOLS (Sun City Helping Our Outstanding Lincoln Schools) Group was one of the three programs used as examples on the successful application for the award. Since 1949, more than 4,000 communities have competed and nearly 500 have been designated All-America Cities.
